The institute of Smart Sensors and Integrated Microsystems (SSIM) at Wayne State University has a long and productive research collaboration with Delphi automotive system R&D. Delphi is the largest producers of MEMS based sensors in the world and hence is a significant research and high impact technology partner with WSU. Our focus is on research and development in novel integration techniques for micro devices, and their translational applications.

Our mission is to facilitate:

  • Cutting-edge research in smart hybrid sensors and microsystems
  • Develop leaders in advanced sensors technology prototypes and products.
  • Disseminate and commercialize new products and technologies through
strong partnerships with industry universities and government agencies.

At the heart of this program is the multi-million dollar Wayne State University Cleanroom featuring a 5500 square foot facility.  This facility is sponsored by Delphi to enable state-of-art microelectronics and micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) research and processing .
